Update x Hiatus


First, my apologies on the long delay for project news. For a while I've been swamped in work and as a result, I've been furiously working to clear my schedule for the past 4 months now.  When this project began, it was an affirmation of ideals. At the time, I had several voices who doubted my ability a game developer - largely based on perceived success. I put this project together to see if my thoughts would hold up to reality - and they did, magnificently. I was surprised, pleased, and affirmed. Version 2.0 of Church of Sin is currently in development, now that I have more pressing things behind me. I would like to finish all pending tasks by end of year, but January 2023 seems most likely. 

At the moment, the project's  future is up in the air. I paused the Patreon page months ago and I will probably delete it altogether when the new year arrives. When 2.0 is released the project will go into indefinite hiatus until further notice. The reason for this is a combination of factors, but at the end of the day it boils down to survival. My needs are evolving as someone who works exclusively from home and as a result I must meet them. I have dependents and bills - and while they are manageable my finances leave little room for anything else. As a result, I need to "trim the fat" and to improve on what is already working. As a result, I've cut down my work load by about 30% already, and I plan to cut it by another 50-60% by year's end.

I greatly enjoy working on this project, largely due to it's story and the direction I planned to take it. As a result, I can't quite bring myself to completely abandon it. I hate to do it, but It will go on the back burner until such a time that I can properly give the treatment it deserves. That won't happen until I improve my own financial situation by a few more leagues. 

Some of you may have noticed a recent update, it's all tech and QOL improvements. A brief summary of them are listed below:

  • Added a button to advance time from the fast travel screen.
  • Fixed a glitch where some L’areena events wouldn’t show up - allowing you to study at the pond during the day.
  • Added some visual confirmation as to which of your stats improve based on your actions during daily training (prayer, training,etc).
  • Fixed a conditional glitch involving the gallery / remembrances.
  • Nectar should only be accessible after certain Malvia events (fixed).
  • Training results show up from prayer actions in the bedroom.
  • Training results show up from training actions in the bedroom.
  • Added evening study to the list of things you can do, available upon unlocking studies.
  • Fixed a few miscellaneous glitches related to out of order events (I think!)

For those of you who have already purchased COS, there will be no additional costs  for the coming release as mentioned at the outset. I'll aim to conclude chapter 2's events  and also some other surprises if I can fit them in. For the most part, I've decided to ignore  new features and focus on new content.  I think this will decrease the amount of time needed for 2.0 to make it's way to you.
